This past year has been an unprecedented one for everyone, including Mother Nature. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought tremendous loss, grief and destruction on a collective level. Much of this loss has mirrored the loss in biodiversity which has been taking place for far too long. At the same time, 2020 has helped many people realize the connection between human health and the health of the planet: if Nature isn’t healthy, then neither are we. If there is anything the past year has taught us, it is that fostering greater harmony with Nature is the key to moving forward.
Now is the time for the global community to step forward into a new paradigm where Nature is at the center of decision making. Shumei hopes that the lessons learned in 2020 will bring a newfound perspective and respect for the health of the planet into focus for 2021. With the Convention on Biodiversity and the UN Climate Change Summit scheduled to take place next year, there is great opportunity for communities around the globe to come together to put what Nature has taught us into action.
At Shumei, we believe Nature can teach us everything we need to know. Let 2021 be the year of putting lessons from Nature into action.
